Man, it makes you wonder sometimes. From the title, I am sure you too wonder why 53-year-old Massachusetts resident David Pinkham stole toilet paper.
Pinkham was arrested a Lawrence police officer spotted him walking out with a case of around 20 rolls. Police said security video showed him entering City Hall empty handed then leaving with the case.
Police said Pinkham admitted stealing toilet paper from City Hall "five or six times" and other supplies.
Turns out to be pretty expensive TP. According to a police report, Pinkham "pulled six tightly folded toilet paper rolls from his buttocks and groin area" at the police station.
Pinkham was charged with larceny over $250. Hmm…
Honey Thief
A two-month investigation into the theft of honey from Cary’s Honey Farms in Lindsay has led to the arrest of an employee of that business.
The investigation and citizen’s arrest was done by the Pipkin Detective Agency that had been hired to determine why the company was short of inventory, said Rock Pipkin, owner of the agency.
The investigation culminated on Wednesday when Guadalupe Gonzalez, 55 of Lindsay, was arrested by agents with Pipkin and he was turned over to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation provided information that a manager working at the honey plant was embezzling barrels of honey and selling them all over California. Many of the individuals contacted provided additional evidence.
“It’s a rather large case, several hundred thousands of dollars,” said Pipkin.
He said Cary’s Honey Farms ships its honey in 55 gallon drums. Their investigation found the honey being sold throughout the state under different labels.
“This was a huge case throughout California, and the product has found its way onto the shelves of legitimate fruit stands and markets. The labeling has fake bar codes, fake phone number and a fake web site. It was highly profitable and sophisticated,” said Pipkin.
He said he believes the thefts had been ongoing for several years. Gonzalez had worked for the company for 12 years.
