One of the great adage’s of all time - “don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” has taken real-root in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Brenda Rivas, 27, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to three months and seven days already served to 23 months in jail after she pleaded guilty to felony charges of burglary and conspiracy in connection with incidents that occurred between June 10 and July 2, 2010.

Judge Joseph A. Smyth also ordered Rivas to complete five years' probation, consecutive to her parole, meaning she will be under court supervision for a total of seven years.

As with the Disney film where Cruella DeVille stole 101 dalmation puppies in order to make a fur coat, Rivas had help. Rivas' alleged co-conspirator, James Hodges, 28, was sentenced to 1½-to-three years in the county jail, to be followed by one year of probation, after he pleaded guilty to burglary-related charges in connection with the incidents.

The two stole four puppies from a kind local resident. Some of the stolen puppies were sold by the defendants.

"The victims had a new litter of puppies at their home and reported that a total of four dogs were removed from their home on two separate occasions," Pottstown Detective Adrian Stead wrote in the criminal complaint.

Biting the Hand That Fed Her

According to court papers, the investigation revealed that Rivas was homeless and had been offered a place to stay by the victims from May 1 until June 1. On June 1, one of the victims became ill and asked Rivas to find another place to live because Rivas was pregnant at the time and the victim didn't want to affect the health of Rivas' unborn child.

Caught on “Facebook”!!!

The victim saw a posting on Rivas' Facebook page on which Rivas admitted to taking one dog from the victim's residence. A second burglary occurred July 2 during which two additional dogs were taken as well as more of Rivas' property, court papers indicate.
