I am sure you have heard of the old “5-finger discount”, right?  All thieves usually start off small with minor thefts of candy bars or chewing gum.  How about this?

Three people from Stratham, Oregon were arrested after trying to leave a Target store with a shopping cart full of items without paying.

Pamela Evans, 58, was charged with felony theft and possession of controlled drugs (big surprise here – really if you are going to go on a theft spree you might want to leave the drugs at home). Her daughter, Sarah Evans, 18, and a male, Preston Morris, 19 – were each charged with one count of criminal liability for the conduct of another.

Police responded to Target for a report of several shoplifters in custody. Store loss prevention had observed the three individuals fill a shopping cart with goods ranging from DVDs, clothing, home decor, jewelry and grocery items.

Police said one of the females got into a vehicle in the parking lot while the other two "working together attempted to push the full cart of goods out of the store without paying for any of it."

Police estimated the value of the merchandise at approximately $1,100. All three were taken into custody without incident. One of the suspects told police they were at the Target doing Christmas shopping (maybe for toys for their kids).

Pamela Evans was released on $620 cash bail while Sarah Evans and Morris were each released on $1,000 personal recognizance, all pending arraignment.  Nice, huh?  Hopefully this will help them get on the straight and narrow.  Add in a stop theft class and an online drug class and they could become model citizens.
